Last week, AMD made headlines when it revealed its Radeon 5700 XT that’s going to take the mid-range market by storm. Now, its Radeon Pro WX 3200 is set to further solidify team red’s position in this area as the GPU has been tagged with a generous price.
How generous? Try $200 for a card that’s set to tackle CAD projects for engineering, manufacturing, architecture, and construction workloads. The Radeon Pro WX 3200 is AMD’s latest offering that provides efficient performance while being affordable at the same time.
Details surrounding Radeon Pro WX 3200
Here are the GPU’s specs. The Radeon Pro WX 3200 has 4GB high-speed GDDR5 memory. It’s based on AMD’s Polaris architecture that can deliver 640 stream processors through its ten compute units (CU) capacity, Window Central reported.
While team red has yet to reveal the Radeon Pro WX 3200’s operating clock, it's claiming it can perform up to 1.66 TFLOPS on a single-precision floating-point. That translates to 33 percent upgrade compared to the Radeon Pro WX 3100.
The Radeon Pro WX 3100 has also been certified by several Independent Software Vendors including Autodesk Inventor, CGTech VERICUT, Hexagon, and more. Its power consumption will peak at 50 watts, with a single fan to act as the GPU’s cooling function.
With a length of 168 mm long or 6.6 inches, the Radeon Pro WX 3200 is suited for any workstation that’s outfitted with a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. Lastly, the graphics card will support 10-bit color, as well as multiple APIs such as Direct X12, Vulkan 1.1, OpenGL 2, and OpenCL 2, Tom’s Hardware reported.
Radeon Pro WX 3200 will be released in 2019’s Q3
AMD has been making huge moves this year, and the Radeon Pro WX 3200 is just one of their pieces moving across the board. Analysts are already hailing team red as the next best thing, sending its competition scrambling to respond from all these maneuvers.
However, the high-end market is still being dominated by other entities, and AMD doesn’t seem interested in swinging on that fence. Not now, anyway. When asked about when AMD is planning to integrate ray tracing tech into its lineup, the company said that it would be seen on its next-gen RDNA graphics chips. Regarding when the Radeon Pro WX 3200 will be available, it’ll be released in the third quarter of 2019.
