The AMD Zen 2 is touted to come out two months from now, and rumors are flying all over the web as to what end users can expect from the upcoming processor. Just last week, reports have come in that several motherboard manufacturers have received samples of the processors falling in the four and eight core categories.
So far, the rumors have been relatively similar claiming that the AMD Zen 2 was performing at a reliable 4.5 GHz and is 15 percent more efficient when pitted against its predecessor. However, the 15 percent figure varies from other testers, with the range falling between 10 to 20 percent. And while this may be the case for most, the number is supposedly lesser than that, with only five to 10 percent increase, Techspot reported.
Of course, all of these remains speculation for now until the company itself reveals the full capabilities of the AMD Zen 2. Fortunately, PC enthusiasts will not have to wait for long official confirmation as it’s highly likely that the next-gen processor will be making an appearance at the upcoming Computex 2019 on May 28.
There are a lot of big things expected for the company and its AMD Zen 2 lineup, with some of the anticipation focusing on a possible 16 core/32 threads processor. Although nothing has been announced just yet, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su did hint at the possibility during CES 2019.
“Some people may have noticed on the package some extra room. There is some extra room on that package, and I think you might expect we will have more than eight cores,” Su previously said. If this holds true, then the company will once again be the talk of the market, putting a lot of distance between it and Intel. As for when the AMD Zen 2 will hit the shelves, it’s speculated it will come out in the third quarter, perhaps this coming July if the rumors are to be believed.
