Chilean berry producer Agroberries will invest around €40 million to expand its farming operations into Morocco and support its fast-growing European marketing platform.
Agroberries announced it had begun planting in Morocco of around 300 hectares of blueberries in three different regions.
The company hopes to expand its grower network by licensing its proprietary varieties across a range of berry categories to reach around 1,000 hectares.
One of the largest berry marketers in the world, Agroberries supplies customers with produce from its farming operations of over 2,500 hectares worldwide and a vast network of third-party growers.
Jorge Varela, Agroberries co-founder and CEO, described their investment in Morocco as a natural next step to their global expansion plan. He added that the investment leverages their deep agronomical expertise, and partnership approach to help them continue supplying their European customers.
