The release date of AirPods 2 has yet to be announced but the web is rife with rumors that it will drop sometime in the spring. The wireless earphones are speculated to make its first public appearance at Apple’s special event on March 25.
Apart from the AirPods 2, there’s also the rumor that the AirPower Charger will be making its debut the same day. The speculation stems from a Chinese website claiming that both devices will be paired by the Cupertino-based company when they hit the market, Forbes reported.
Initially, the AirPower was rumored to have been scrapped by Apple due to technical challenges in developing the device. That turned out to be false and the wireless charger is indeed among the lineup that the company has planned in 2019. With regards to the features of the AirPods 2, there are numerous assumptions tied to the earphones.
The most intriguing of which is that Apple has designed the AirPods 2 to have the capability of being used as a hearing aid. While this isn’t confirmed just yet, there is evidence out there supporting this claim. Among the clues pointing in this direction is the findings of Apple Insider after they’ve combed through the latest patent filing of the company.
The illustrations found by the site appears indicative enough to at least entertain the possibility, but not enough to clearly confirm the feature. Another rumor surrounding AirPods 2 is the inclusion of Siri into its tech. This assumption is rooted in the findings of 9to5mac where the site managed to uncover a setup in the iOS 12.2 where it specifically details how users can activate Siri through a simple phrase.
With regards to the price of AirPods 2, it’s supposedly been tagged with a similar cost to its predecessor. If this proves true, then the wireless earphones will definitely do well in its sales performance, especially if the above-mentioned features make its way to reality. Fortunately for consumers, they won’t have to wait long to find out if these speculations are indeed spot on as March is but a few weeks away.
