‘Alien: Covenant’ lead actor Michael Fassbender recently confirmed that Ridley Scott’s upcoming horror and science-fiction film will be much scarier than its predecessor ‘Prometheus’. He is set to return as the android David in the sequel.
According to Comingsoon.net, Fassbender confirmed that the upcoming sequel to the 2012 science-fiction film ‘Prometheus’ will be much scarier. Fassbender said, “I have to say, this Alien is going to be – I’m really excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying that there’s a film that we all wanna see.”
He continued, “It’s much scarier than ‘Prometheus,’ but it’s got that sort of same scope as ‘Prometheus,’ that imminent sort of disaster feel that ‘Alien’ had. So it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary, number one. And again, with the massive scope of ‘Prometheus’… Yeah, you know once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it’s definitely going to bring chills to the cinema.”
Fassbender played the android David in ‘Prometheus’. His character was introduced as an android who acts as a butler and maintenance man in the scientific vessel USCSS Prometheus, which set out on an expedition to explore the distant moon LV-223 in hopes of finding answers to humanity’s past. He joins archaeologists Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) in the expedition.
David is highly intelligent, polished, and extremely versatile. He is equipped with limitless functionalities that enable him to perform tasks efficiently. He can also interact seamlessly with humans being able to fully understand human emotions and subtle verbal commands.
Fassbender is set to reprise his role in the sequel and joins cast members Noomi Rapace, Katherine Waterston as Daniels, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, and Carmen Egojo among others.
During an interview with Collider, Fassbender talked about his experiences working with talented filmmakers and actors on several projects. He said, “It feels good. As an actor, it’s always been good to be working at all, so to be working with this kind of outburst of talent and people that I’ve been working with, yeah, it’s the best.”
He also expressed praise for Scott saying, “I just love Ridley. You know, he’s become a really good friend, and he’s just a natural, he’s one of a kind. Anybody that works with him in any department is just totally blown away by him. He’s such a visionary and I think he has such a great, understanding of storytelling.”
‘Alien: Covenant’ is an upcoming adventure-horror and science-fiction film scheduled to premiere on August 4, 2017. It is directed by Ridley Scott and written by Michael Green and Jack Paglen and re-written by John Logan. It is produced by Brandywine Productions, Scott Free Productions, TSG Entertainment, and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.
It is the direct sequel to ‘Prometheus’, which earned $403.35 million worldwide against a production budget of $130 million.
