People may have different opinions about the first “Alita: Battle Angel” movie, but no one can deny that it captivated some of the most dedicated fans. Disney has been tight-lipped about its plans for the live-action movie adaptation of the manga “Gunnm.” But its supporters are doing some great things to show they really want that sequel.
‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’: Fans are exploring many avenues to convince Disney to make the sequel happen
More than a year since the first movie’s release, a petition for the production of “Alita: Battle Angel 2” on Change.org is still gaining momentum. Over the past week, it has actually gathered thousands of more new signatures to demand the sequel from Disney.
Before the Oscars 2020, there were over 130,000 petitioners that supported the said online campaign. But, as of this writing, the signature count has gone up to over 142,400 calling for the announcement and production of “Alita: Battle Angel 2.”
Dedicated fans hoping to see “Alita: Battle Angel 2” is not stopping at signing online petitions. Last month, they started a GoFundMe page to collect enough funds to have a banner calling for the “Alita” sequel. The banner was spotted flying over the Oscars 2020 red carpet last Feb. 9.
The efforts dedicated to the making of “Alita: Battle Angel 2” has been brought to the attention of several people who worked on the first movie. Unfortunately, the decision to make the sequel happen is with Disney. And like fans, the cast and crew are also still waiting to hear from the mega movie studio that bought 20th Century Fox after the first “Alita” film was released.
‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’ plot speculations: What to expect from Alita in a sequel movie
While the plot of the first movie was somehow resolved in the end, there is no doubt that “Alita: Battle Angel 2” to make Alita’s (Rosa Salazar) narrative complete. The 2019 film ended was obviously ended in a way that it leaves a huge opening for producers to tie-in sequel story.
Alita’s next adventures are not that difficult to guess, too, if “Alita: Battle Angel 2” eventually gets made. The end of the first movie shows her getting closer to earning the money to go to Zalem, where the ultimate villain, Nova (Edward Norton), was showed seemingly expecting her.
