Sony really came out swinging when it launched the PlayStation Paris Games Week with tons of new announcements, trailers, and teasers. While many of the details shown were about games that were already announced, there were also others that have never been seen before. Even for the titles that gamers already know are coming out, seeing new scenes certainly got the crowd going.
The event saw several upcoming video games getting quite a bit of hype but most of them won’t be out until at least 2018, The Verge reports. Among the titles that made the most noise include a new game by Sucker Punch called Ghost of Tsushima, the sequel to a hit indie game Spelunky 2, and of course, new trailers about The Last of Us Part 2 and God of War.
Of the new games coming out for the PlayStation 4 or at least, will debut on the Sony console, several are eye-catching enough to really wet gamers’ appetites. There’s Guacemelee 2, for example, which involves a mask-wearing luchador showing off some fast-paced side-scrolling action.
There’s also a new game called The Gardens Between which is shaping up to be an intriguing title revolving around the concept of friendship. It’s part puzzle-solving, part exploration, and a partnership between two characters who must rely on each other to survive.
With regards to Sony’s bigger exclusives, there’s the new trailer for TLOU Part 2 that features none of the old characters from the franchise, Digital Trends reports. Fans shouldn’t panic since Joel and Ellie are still going to be in the game. The clip simply provides a clearer window as to what kind of world players will be walking into, which apparently involves some nasty cults.
Finally giving series diehards what they were looking for, a new trailer for God of War was shown during the event and it is fittingly epic. Based on the video, gameplay is still going to involve quite a bit of button mashing. This time, however, players will need to be more tactical about their approach to slaying mythological creatures.
