Google finally pushed out the final version of the developer preview for Android Wear 2.0. Mashable said the official release of the upcoming update is expected next month.
Among the features showcased in the developer preview of the update is that iOS support is now available for Android Wear 2.0. WIRED said. This means that Android owners can now easily pair their iPhones with their watches to install Play Store apps. As such, interaction between the Android Wear 2.0 and iPhone will be similar to how an Apple Watch and an iPhone work.
Moreover, the new layout featured a curved design on round devices with a circular scrolling gesture, that you can turn off and on. Users can switch between views of your apps using a Navigation drawer, which is similar to the navigation drawer on a smartphone. The Navigation drawer will be in the form of a drop-down menu at the top, WIRED added.
To download the developer preview, back up your data first, then download the new preview image in order to flash your smartwatch. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions on how to flash your watch. Once you download the and install the Android version of the companion app on the phone, proceed to pair the phone with the watch, then install and run the same app on the watch.
A Forbes article read that Android Wear is expected to launch on February 9th, and that the revamped platform will arrive on a couple of new LG smartwatches. Brands like Tag Heuer, New Balance, Casio and ZTE have already announced that they intend to bring Android Wear 2.0 devices in the succeeding months.
