“Animal Crossing: New Horizons” players were anticipating a major update this month that was not scheduled to go live until Nov. 5. However, it was discovered that the patch went live earlier than planned.
Last month, Nintendo held a dedicated Direct presentation for “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” where the update 2.0 was announced. Fans were not expecting the patch to be ready for download until Friday, but reports on Wednesday indicate that Nintendo has released the update a little earlier than expected.
Updating games on Nintendo Switch consoles do not require many steps from the players. All they need to do is connect their gaming hardware to the internet, and the latest version of the game should be downloaded and installed automatically. Players can check which “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” version they have on the title screen when loading the game. Version 2.0.0 should be displayed on the screen once the game has been updated.
“Animal Crossing: New Horizons” version 2.0 is an important patch for the game. For one, this is the patch when the most-awaited arrival of Brewster is happening. As announced in October, the fan-favorite pigeon barista is back and is opening the Roost café in the museum.
The latest update also allows players to go on a boat tour with Kapp’n when they visit the pier. Harv’s Island is getting a revamp as well in “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” version 2.0 with the launch of an open market. Players can visit Reese and Cyrus’ shop on the island to find new options to customize their furniture that are not available through DIY workbenches.
Nintendo is also adding another purpose for the vegetables that players harvest in “Animal Crossing: New Horizons.” Version 2.0 adds cooking to DIY recipes that use ingredients, along with players’ harvest. Players can also start digging up gyroids, aside from fossils. Support provided by Nook, Inc. will be expanded in this update to include bigger home storage and allow the Resident Representative to impose island ordinances.
These new features and content will be available to all “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” players for free through version 2.0. But note that Nintendo previously confirmed this is going to be the “last major free content update” for the game.
