During the recently concluded E3 2017, Ubisoft unveiled the next AAA Assassin’s Creed game called Assassin’s Creed Origins, which presents several departures from the previous titles. In a surprise twist, the company announced another addition to the series in the form of a mobile game. Called Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, it’s basically Ubisoft’s version of Bethesda’s Fallout Shelter.
For some context, Fallout Shelter is basically the mobile game that accompanied the E3 announcement of Fallout 4. It involved managing a vault, where players were the Overseer. With AC Rebellion, Ubisoft is offering similar features along with a few others that include going on missions, the company’s blog post reveals.
“Giving players the chance to build their own Assassin Brotherhood, manage a fortress, and engage in covert missions against the Templars, Assassin’s Creed Rebellion brings together a roster of more than 40 Assassins,” the blog post reads. “Recruit familiar Assassins such as Ezio, Aguilar, Shao Jun, Claudia, and Machiavelli, along with more than 20 new unlockable characters exclusively created for Assassin’s Creed Rebellion. You can play with these and other famous Assassins simultaneously thanks to a new version of the Animus that merges the memories of several Assassins together.”
The game will be free to download and play, and is compatible with both iOS and Android devices, Gamespot reports. Based on the teaser trailer that Ubisoft released, fans of the series can also expect somewhat of a different art style compared to the other games in the franchise. In fact, the characters look less like assassins and more like teeny, tiny toddlers.
It’s not yet known when Rebellion is going to be released. Ubisoft would only say that it’s going to be available worldwide soon. To play the game, however, players will want to be running on at least iOS 8 and Android 4.1. If not, accessing the mobile title might be a bit troublesome.
