“Atlanta” Season 2 Update: Co-Star Says Filming To Start In September This Year, No Idea What’s In Store But Promises A “Good Time”

Good news, “Atlanta” on FX fans! Season 2 of the Donald Glover’s critically acclaimed comedy is set to start filming later this year. According to actor Brian Tyree Henry, who plays Alfred Miles, aka up-and-coming rapper Paper Boi to Glover’s Earnest “Earn” Marks, Paper Boi’s haphazardly shrewd manager, they will start filming in September, and will “crank it out” for release soon.

On the other hand, Henry can only provide a little about the show’s upcoming Season 2, Screenrant reported. But what he’s hoping for though, is for the characters to have fun while growing through the motions of daily life, including making steps to succeed in the business.

He added, “What I do hope is that we continue to show these characters growing together, continue to show these characters having fun together, continue to show these characters that are trying to make it, and I really hope that the viewers relate to that. I hope that y’all have as much fun as we did when we made it, that it’s still received the same way if not more. All we can do is go and play and really tell these stories, but we have no idea what’s coming up.”

However, Glover earlier promised that Season 2 will be “palatable to existing fans.” He said, "I don't want to sit there and be like, 'Oh, I don't care what the audience thinks.' It does matter to me. I just want them to think, to be honest. I want them to think about it. I think Season 2 will be affected by how people take in the food we're giving them, essentially. I don't know what that means, but I want to see how it all fits with them. Because I think that's part of our making art is that we're in this together. It's a dance, really."

But fans shouldn’t expect a 2018 release, as reported by TVLine, due to Glover’s obligations. Bustle said the actor himself is set to star as Lando Calrissian in the “Star Wars” Han Solo prequel, which prompted them to move the show’s Fall 2017 release to undefinite.
