BLACKPINK member Jennie is smashing records with her special single, "You & Me." The South Korean hitmaker secured the top spot on the U.S. Billboard main charts with her latest solo track.
BLACKPINK Jennie Follows Jisoo, Lisa, Rosé's Success
"You & Me" successfully placed 7th on the Billboard Global 200 and nabbed the 1st spot on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. Both charts are based on streaming and music sales data from over 200 regions worldwide.
The most recent achievement of Jennie cements BLACKPINK as the first K-Pop group to have every member feature a solo track in the Billboard Global 200 chart's top 10. Other hits earning this achievement include "FLOWER" by Jisoo, "On the Ground" by Rosé, and "LALISA" and "MONEY" by Lisa, each of which ranked within the top 10 of the said Billboard chart after its release.
As if that is not enough, BLACKPINK Jennie's "You & Me" also made a significant mark on other global charts. The song secured the 39th spot on the U.K.'s Official Singles Chart, considered one of the most prestigious charts in the world alongside the U.S. Billboard. The track reached the 13th spot on Spotify's Daily Top Song Global Chart.
BLACKPINK Jennie Releases First 'Special Single' Since Solo Debut In 2018
Most, if not all, fans are aware that BLACKPINK member Jennie announced "You & Me" via the official BLACKPINK Instagram account on October 4. The song is being billed as a "special single" from the K-pop idol and was first debuted during the opening of BLACKPINK's "Born Pink" world tour at the KSPO Dome in Seoul, South Korea, in October 2022.
"We hope the song becomes a special gift through which fans remember their memories from [the] 'Born Pink' tour," YG Entertainment said in a press release about "You & Me," per The K-pop Herald. The track is Jennie's first release since her solo debut with "Solo" in 2018. Earlier this year, she co-wrote the song titled "One of the Girls" with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp for HBO's "The Idol."
Meanwhile, the release of "You & Me" comes amid speculations that some members of BLACKPINK might not renew their contracts with YG Entertainment. However, the South Korean talent agency has maintained that discussions are ongoing, and nothing about the group's contracts has been finalized as of press time.
