‘Baywatch’ lead actor Zac Efron binged on a full room service menu after completing a shoot for the upcoming comedy film following the lives of Los Angeles County lifeguards. He also admitted that he wanted of a role of an “ageing rock star” next.
According to Indian Express, Efron reportedly ordered everything on the room service menu after wrapping up filming for the upcoming big-screen adaptation of ‘Baywatch’. The 28-year old actor maintained a strict diet and exercise regimen for his role as Matt Brody, a character made famous by David Charvet in the original television series of the same name.
Efron admitted that he had to make sacrifices to get the toned physique his character was known for. He said, “I was training hard during ‘Baywatch’ filming. Once I finished a big scene, I went back to my hotel and ordered the entire (room service) menu. I hadn’t had carbs in a month! I went nuts.”
According to an article on Foods 4 Better Health, Efron’s body training regime included high-intensity cardio workouts. He trained three times a day with high-intensity and high-volume workouts while using light weights and high repetitions for more muscle definition. He also ate meals of green leafy vegetables and at least 120 grams of protein that totaled to 3,500 calories a day while avoiding all forms of processed food.
Co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is famed for his professional wrestler career as well as his acting profession, stuck to traditional bodybuilding techniques to maintain his already massive bulk. Johnson maintained similar dietary strategies of high protein intake that consisted of chicken, eggs, green vegetables, nuts, and steak.
The two may have had intense diets and workouts but they were allowed cheat meals once or twice a week. Efron indulged in macaroni and cheese while Johnson enjoyed pancakes.
Efron admitted that he wanted to take on a role of “ageing rock star” next, according to the Irish Examiner. During an interview during the premiere of his new film ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’, he revealed, “I would love to gain 30 pounds and play an ageing rock star. That would be an awesome transformation… I want to be honest with my characters. Otherwise, I’m just going to stay healthy fit.”
‘Baywatch’ is an upcoming comedy film scheduled to be released on May 19, 2017. It is directed by Seth Gordon and written for the big screen by Robert Ben Garant, Justin Malen, Barry Schwartz, Damian Shannon, and Mark Swift. It is produced by Cold Spring Pictures, Contrafilm, The Montecito Picture Company, Seven Bucks Productions, and Paramount Pictures.
