There’s a war brewing on social media, and Selena Gomez and Beyonce may not be even aware of it.
Elle noticed that since Beyonce garnered more likes for her pregnancy announcement on Instagram on February 1st, fans of the “Kill Em With Kindness” singer began showing support by racking up new likes for the June 26, 2016 post. The post, which appears to be an ad for a softdrink company, held the top spot on Instagram for the most likes.
BGR added that Beyonce toppled Gomez’s in both number of likes (over 7.6 million as compared to 6.3 million plus) and comments (nearing 380,000 reactions as compared to 260,000 replies). The tech site noted that response of Beyonce’s post could be due to the fact that hers was of a personal nature (which was a pregnancy announcement), and Gomez’s post was a sponsored ad for Coca-Cola.
Meanwhile, Beyonce’s “Beyhive” appears to have retaliated with Gomez’s fans by flooding the latter’s Coca-Cola post with lemon and bee emojis, of which Elle noted was also used as an online war tactic when fans theorized that Rachel Roy was the other woman in Jay-Z’s life. Some of the fans also resorted to accusing Gomez’s fans of buying likes.
If both singers were bothered with the brewing online war, they’re not showing it. Beyonce has since released more pregnancy photos (with some underwater shots and a video) and most probably is basking in the pregnancy glow. Gomez, meanwhile, is probably refreshed following what appeared to be a very lavish vacation with purported new beau The Weeknd in Italy.
