The 2017 Billboard Music Awards may have featured under-thirty artists, but the two performances that has captured the Internet tonight are the over-50 artists.
Celine Dion performed one of her most iconic hits in her musical career, “My Heart Will Go On” from the blockbuster movie “Titanic.” TVLine said the song earned Dion three Billboard Music Awards, and was the bestselling single, all back in 1998. The performance was quite a production number, with Dion wearing a white couture gown with billowing sleeves and a deep v-neck line as she is surrounded by a chandelier of crystals. Dion also showcased her killer notes towards the end of the song.
The awards night was also a Cher spectacle, with the 71 year-old in full form (or two) as she appeared in her signature wig and sexy costumes. The Los Angeles Times said Cher sang her hits “Believe” and "If I Could Turn Back Time.” The singer was in attendance to accept her Icon award from Gwen Stefani. Even Dion fangirled over the singer, as shown in this press video of her singing along during Cher’s performance.
Referring to her physical body and her body of career, she shared to adoring artists, "I've been doing it for 53 years. ... I'm 71 yesterday. Yes. And I can do a five-minute plank, just saying."
Apart from Cher and Dion, Drake, Nicki Minaj, a reinvented Miley Cyrus, Lorde, and Ed Sheeran performed for this year’s Billboard Music Awards, which was broadcasted from Las Vegas, Vanity Fair said.
