Bindle vacuum-insulated bottles were voluntarily recalled due to possible lead contamination. The water bottle maker said the issue was caused by one part of the bottle that has exposed metal.
The recall for some Bindle insulated bottles involves four sizes, and their bottom compartment has a part that was not covered thoroughly. It is said to be a lead that may pose health issues thus, Bindle immediately issued the recall late last week.
The recall notice was also posted and confirmed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. As per Fox Business, it was stated in the announcement that the affected water bottles may have an area of uncovered lead which could potentially result in the contamination of food.
The FDA said that Bindle insulated bottles that are used for keeping food hot or cold may pose health problems to people who consume them. The issue was discovered after testing showed there is a lead within the dry storage container. It was described as a "soldering dot" at the bottom of the bottles.
Bindle also released a notice with a FAQ page on its own website so that people will be well informed. The company listed four sizes of the bottles that had been recalled, and these are the 32-ounce, 24-ounce, 20-ounce, and 13-ounce Bindle products. The 24-ounce Puppy Pack is also included in the recall if they were purchased before Feb. 15.
FDA's recall notice stated that the affected products were sold across the country via Amazon's website, Bindle Bottle's own webpage, retail stores, and distributors. The company has already stopped the production of the bottles, so it can check the issue and adjust the process to eliminate the exposed lead before resuming manufacturing.
The company is advising people to stop using the bottom compartment until they have received the repair kit, which will be given for free. Bindle said the stainless interior of the bottle is totally not affected and can be used for liquid storage.
Finally, Bindle posted an apology for the inconvenience brought about by the voluntary recall. The company further assured customers that safety is very important to them.
"Bindle Bottle knows that you have placed your trust in us, and we take our customers' safety seriously," Bindle stated. "We sincerely apologize to you for the inconvenience of this voluntary recall. At Bindle Bottle, we pride ourselves on placing safety first, and we will continue to stand behind our product line."
