'Boruto' Episode 65 Release Date, Spoilers, and Predictions: Will This Be a Different End for Naruto?

Image via Viz Media

"Boruto" Episode 65 was supposed to air this week, on July 12, but was unfortunately moved back to a release date of July 19. Titled “Father and Child”, the episode continues where we left off with the intense battle of Episode 64, “Rescuing Naruto.”

In the last episode, we saw Boruto and Naruto finally connect as father and son as they battle Momoshiki and Kinshiki. The episode starts off with Mitsuki finding himself at the hospital, weak from Urashiki's attack. This effectively puts him out of the picture as the scene changes to a wasteland where the God Tree resides. Here, Kumara's chakra was being drained from Naruto by Momoshiki, but he was able to drain only half of the chakra as the process was taking too much time. The Kage arrive just in time to break Naruto free from his bonds.

This is where father and son get to connect as Naruto notices that his son was wearing his old clothes. Coupled with the realization that he was wrong for ignoring Boruto about the Shinobi Gauntlet, Naruto apologizes to his son.

During the battle, as the Kage were able to incapacitate Kinshiki, Momoshiki turns desperate and consumes Kinshiki as a chakra edible. The power from Kinshiki consumed, Momoshiki grows more powerful, even sprouting a third Rinnegan on his forehead before forebodingly telling Naruto that he is next.

"Boruto" Episode 65's preview breakdown was posted by a user on Reddit, showcasing the very vibrant animations for the episode by Chengxi Huang. The quality of the animations may be one of the reasons for the episode's delay in release. A subbed version of the preview is available on YouTube.

Aside from the quality of animations, the cliffhanger ending of the previous episode making Momoshiki stronger than ever leaves fans wondering if the final showdown of Momoshiki against Naruto and Sasuke is finally going to happen the way they want it. Will the animation deviate from the script by playing up the drama between Naruto and Boruto? Or will “Boruto” Episode 65 be a very satisfying point-by-point work based on the specific arc?
