Pepsi is creating 1,893 unique generative-style NFTs of its ‘Pepsi Mic Drop’ genesis NFT collection to mark the year the company was born.
According to Pepsi, the exclusive generative traits of its NFT collection are generated randomly by an algorithm, making each NFT unique.
The Pepsi Mic Drop NFTs will have variations of a microphone visual and inspired by iconic Pepsi flavors, such as classic blue Pepsi, crystal Pepsi, silver diet Pepsi, red Pepsi wild cherry, and black Pepsi zero sugar.
The collection is designed and created with VaynerNFT, a consultancy under the umbrella of the VaynerX holding company.
Todd Kaplan, Pepsi Vice President for Marketing, noted that with Pepsi’s strong heritage in music and pop culture, it’s only fitting to bring that legacy into NFTs with a ‘mic drop.’
There’s a waiting list but once consumers get verified, they will be able to mint a Pepsi Mic Drop NFT for free except Ethereum gas fees.
However, consumers need to set up a crypto wallet to participate, which may dissuade those with no crypto experience or interest.
As such, it’s clear that Pepsi is not looking to make this project mainstream but is instead targeting crypto and NFT enthusiasts.
