‘Chicago Fire’ season 5’s episode 12, titled "An Agent of the Machine," is set to pick up right after the events of the previous episode. A man holding a grudge will pose a threat against Casey as well as the entire Chicago Fire Department.
The synopsis for “An Agent of the Machine” posted on TV Guide reads, “CPD intervenes when Casey (Jesse Spencer) and the squad are targeted by a man who has a grudge against them;
a pal of Severide's (Taylor Kinney) father shadows the squad; Brett's (Kara Killmer) relationship with Antonio (guest star Jon Seda) hits some turbulence: his ex-wife; and Casey has a gift for Dawson (Monica Raymund).”
It seems that the squad at Firehouse 51 will have their lives at risk when a new threat in the form of a vengeful man surfaces. According to Christian Times, the upcoming episode’s storyline will deal with the aftermath of the previous episode’s events where Casey was forced to choose between saving the life of a young girl and an armed man.
In a shocking turn of events, the man escaped through a secret hatch after Casey managed to take the girl out of danger’s way and returned for him. It seems that the man will go after Casey for revenge but may also target other members of the Chicago Fire Department.
The promo hinted at an impending attack at the Firehouse. It was revealed that the perpetrator is the man Casey failed to save during the previous episode. The police department may have to intervene in capturing the dangerous man running loose in the city.
Meanwhile, Severide’s firefighter friend Dennis Mack (guest star Nick Boraine) will come into town with a hidden agenda while Brett and Antonio’s relationship will be put under the test when Antonio’s ex-wife Laura (guest star America Olivo) returns.
