The Crash Bandicoot franchise has been around for a long time but it seems the original games still had content that players never got to try. One previously unreleased level is actually on offer right now for free, but it’s only for a limited time. Gamers who already have the remastered games should hurry up and get the level before they need to pay for it.
The level in question is called the Stormy Ascent and involves a lot of platform jumping, obviously. What makes this particular offering tantalizing, however, is that it was deemed far too difficult even for the original games. It was first developed for the first Crash Bandicoot, a platformer that was notorious for numerous destroyed controllers. That’s why it was never released until now, Forbes reports.
Players can download this particular level by going to the PlayStation Store right now. The store page also neatly summarizes what players can expect from the level and who would most likely appreciate what it can offer.
“Experience the notorious Stormy Ascent level from the original Crash Bandicoot™ game,” the store page description reads. “Previously unfinished and unreleased, this level will challenge even the most hardened of Crash fans! Do you have what it takes to tackle the fast retracting steps, vial throwing lab assistants, flying birds, moving platforms and iron spikes? Download and play the Stormy Ascent Level!”
The offer is up for grabs until August 19th, so players have a little over three weeks to get their grubby paws on it. It’s also worth pointing out that many have actually seen or tried the level using unofficial methods in the past. This would mark the first time that an official version is released, so any player who is a masochist at heart should have no excuse to not try it.
