“Cyberpunk 2077” is still a year away but the excitement around it hasn’t died down after CD Projekt Red released its gameplay demo last year. In fact, it’s expected that the hype train will only add momentum to an already exhilarating ride as another gameplay demo is slated to come out in this year’s PAX West.
The event is slated to take place between Aug. 30 and Sept. 2. It’s still unclear what sort of “Cyberpunk 2077” reveal the developers have prepared this time around, but it appears that it’s going to highlight its dark nature.
Lead quest designer Pawel Sasko recently sat down with Polish Radio to talk about the game and said that a player’s morality would be put to the test by the title’s storyline, Dexerto reported. “Cyberpunk 2077” is a story-driven game where individual choices yield different results that only manifest itself down the line.
The themes of Cyberpunk 2077 are geared for adult players
Violence, sexual themes, and various adult topics that society usually shies away from will be the concepts that will be explored. It’s for this reason that developers have said time and again that “Cyberpunk 2077” isn’t a children’s game. There will be aspects in the game that may be too much for younger audiences, especially the sexual themes as the lines between genders and sexual preference has been essentially blurred.
Indeed, even the concept of humanity itself will be challenged by the story as the driving force of “Cyberpunk 2077” is rooted in the near-immortality of its inhabitants. And we know that morality goes out the window once people become gods amongst men.
Cyberpunk 2077 will also have its light moments
But it’s not doom and gloom for the entirety of the story since “Cyberpunk 2077” will also be packing a lot of emotional payoffs depending on the player’s choice throughout the experience. Sasko himself confirmed this when he spoke with Gamereactor a few months back.
“I think there's gonna be joy, there's gonna be tears, and there's gonna be laughter, and yeah there's gonna be anger. We are going to give you all that, because this is what we are doing,” Sasko said. There’s no cause to doubt the developer’s words since they’ve already achieved such an emotional journey when they released “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.” With regards to the release date of “Cyberpunk 2077,” CD Projekt Red has slated its release on April 16, 2020, and tagged it with a price of $59.99.
