Tesla’s Cybertruck has just joined the Military Purchase Program, offering U.S. service members exclusive discounts on the much-anticipated electric pickup truck as part of Tesla’s broader effort to honor military personnel.
Cybertruck Discount Now Available
Launched last week on the company's website, a $1,000 discount is now available to military personnel who purchase a Tesla Cybertruck.
It was noticed on Friday that Tesla has included the Cybertruck in its online Military Purchase Program, which effectively gives current and former U.S. military personnel a $1,000 discount on Tesla electric cars (EVs), Teslarati shares.
Military Program Expands to Include Cybertruck
Now that the Cybertruck is a part of the program, customers can save money on any electric vehicle they buy from Tesla, not just the Model S, Model X, Model 3, or Model Y.
"Receive $1,000 off any new Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck," Tesla stated on its website. “Offer available to military veterans, retirees, active duty members and their spouses to honor those who have served our country. Discount applied when you place your order. Unlimited availability.”
At this time, the sale is limited to Tesla Cybertruck "Foundation Series" models. These are the first iterations of the electric pickup and will likely be the only ones sold until around the end of November.
Additionally, in June, Tesla Cybertruck customers started getting $2,500 coupons to use toward the purchase of Powershare Home Backup gear.
Cybertruck Orders Now Open
After initially requiring purchasers to pay $100 for a reservation to eventually take possession of the EV, Tesla opened up orders for Foundation Series Cybertrucks on its website order configurator over the weekend. The car is now available for purchase directly on Tesla's website, and the company plans to begin shipping orders in the coming months.
Test drives of the Cybertruck were made available to the public for the first time last week, and the electric vehicle was immediately available for purchase in Mexico and Canada.
During its most recent Q2 2024 earnings call, Tesla stated that it anticipated becoming profitable on the truck by early next year. Since the Cybertruck was initially delivered to customers last November, production has been growing.
