Tesla’s Cybertruck Foundation Series is now available for direct purchase, skipping the reservation process. This limited-edition model is expected to ship by December, with availability running out soon.
Cybertruck Foundation Series Hits the Market
Cybertruck "Foundation Series" orders have opened on Tesla's website, so customers may buy the launch edition electric truck without a reservation—though the limited-edition version will only be available for a little while longer, Teslarati shares.
Now available through the company's online configurator, the Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series is priced at $35,000 and is expected to ship in September for the dual-motor AWD model and December for the tri-motor Cyberbeast.
An informational pop-up on the Cybertruck order configurator describes the Foundation Series as a "limited edition Cybertruck, only available for the first year," according to Tesla.
Following the revelation, some have pointed out that the $100 deposit needed to reserve a Cybertruck can also be refunded, while others have suggested that those with reservations may still be given priority when non-Foundation Series variants are launched.
There has been some uncertainty on when Tesla will cease production of the Foundation Series in recent months, after May rumors that the launch option will shortly be discontinued. Siddhant Awasthi, the program manager for the Cybertruck vehicle program at Tesla, addressed the charges by stating that production of the Foundation Series Cybertrucks was underway.
At Tesla's 2024 Annual Shareholder Meeting, Musk added, "We’ll end the Foundation Series actually pretty soon and the non-Foundation Series sometime next quarter." Iconic remarks.
Tesla’s Foundation Series to End Soon
On the other hand, Tesla subtly revised the language on their Cybertruck order invitations after Musk's announcement, stating that it anticipated to "deliver only the Foundation Series through late 2024," due to the electric vehicle's incredible demand.
After a November launch ceremony, Tesla began delivering the Foundation Series Cybertruck to select customers. A few weeks later, the company expanded its delivery to include more customers.
In December, the business also made available to those who had placed early reservations via an invitation to customize the Foundation Series Cybertruck, an online order configurator.
