“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” continues to slay with its movie release titled “Mugen Train.” It is still breaking box-office records weeks after its initial release and now its original manga series and the anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” season 2 are also making new records by topping the ranking charts.
The manga slays the Oricon chart
Crunchyroll reported that this year has been a blockbuster time for “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.” In the past 12 months, the manga’s sales have shot up and the numbers just keep on going up. Its record-breaking physical copies sold were said to be 82,345,447.
Based on the Oricon chart data, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” even displaced the long-running “One Piece” series. This is the first time that Eiichiro Oda’s series has fallen into third place in the last 10 years.
The rankings are estimates and it should be noted that physical copies and digital sales are not included in the data that put “Demon Slayer” at no. 1. The record was compiled from Nov. 18, 2019 to Nov. 22 this year.
Final volume confirmed by manga creator
In any case, before “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” season 2 could be released, it was announced by its creator Koyoharu Gotouge that he will be posting the final volume of the manga version. He also apologized for the wrong info that was posted in the preview for the final chapters.
As per the Anime News Network, the preview shared that the last volume will have 14 extra pages in its epilogue. Gotouge clarified that this is not the case which means there is no additional exclusive pages. Rather, the final volume will have contents that were omitted in the original story and some from magazine serialization.
Meanwhile, as fans wait for the arrival of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” season 2, it was revealed that Shueisha will be releasing a spinoff with a single volume manga titled "Kimetsu no Yaiba: Rengoku Gaiden." This is will hit the stores on Dec. 4 initially, 1 million copies are to be published.
