With Destiny 2’s launch date coming ever closer, fans of the game are itching to give the sequel a try. Gamers will finally get this chance next week when the beta launches, but PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners can actually start pre-loading it now. This is only available to players who pre-ordered the game, however, so there’s that to take into account.
Now, just to be clear, Destiny 2 beta is not playable as of right now. Players can simply load up the demo today so that they can play it immediately once the beta is launched, which scheduled for July 18th, IGN reports.
As to why gamers would even want to pre-load their copyright now, the answer has to do with the enormous size of the files. The beta goes up to 15GB, after all, and anyone who doesn’t have extremely high-speed internet is going to be waiting quite a while for the whole thing to download.
It’s also worth noting that before players can access the beta, they need to redeem the Early Access code that they have been given. Bungie has provided a website where players can do exactly that and then they can pre-load the game today.
As noted, the beta will only be available to the two consoles right now, the International Business Times reports. The beta for the PC version will not be available for quite some time if there even is one by the time it comes out.
With regards to the kind of content that players can expect, there will be two Crucible modes and a new strike mode. There will also be a small portion right at the beginning of the game that players can access to get a feel for what the final product is likely to be like.
