The elections are further shaping up to be between President Donald Trump and former vice president Joe Biden. However, as more of Biden’s sexual assault allegations cause more of a buzz, Trump also weighed in on the issue.
Politico reports that during an interview at Fox & Friends, Trump appeared to show some sympathy towards Biden and said that he hopes the sexual allegations made against his Democratic rival are false as he weighed in on the issue. Trump also somehow encouraged Biden to continue fighting to clear his name from the supposed charges placed on him by former Senate staff member Tara Reade.
“I don’t know if it’s false or not. I mean, Joe is going to have to be able to prove whatever he has to prove, or she has to prove it, but that’s a battle he has to fight...I’ve had many false accusations made, I can tell you that. Many. And maybe it is a false accusation. Frankly, I hope it is for his sake,” said Trump.
Prior to his Fox & Friends interview, Trump also encouraged Biden to fight the claims made against him by Reade during a podcast interview last week. However, despite this, his campaign has used the allegations to attack Biden in their ads. The President himself has been accused of sexual assault by over two dozen women and has denied each of those accounts.
Reade accused the former vice president of sexually assaulting her during his days as a Senator. Although Biden has already denied such allegations, Reade elaborated her account during her first on-camera interview with Megyn Kelly. The former vice president called for a search for the complaint Reade filed in the National Archives but was turned down by the Senate.
Meanwhile, Trump and his administration are facing possible exposure to the coronavirus especially as reports that his personal valet, as well as vice president Mike Pence’s press secretary, have tested positive. Despite his efforts in focusing on how to reopen the economy post-lockdown, many of his advisors including Dr. Anthony Fauci, have entered modified quarantine as the virus draws closer to the White House.
