Donald Trump declared the coronavirus outbreak a national emergency this week. During his presser, the POTUS also gave Americans an update regarding the additional sources and funding as different government branches try to combat the disease.
Trump’s announcement paved the way for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to tap into billions of dollars and mobilize personnel more quickly to help state and local agencies and leaders respond.
According to Melania Trump’s husband, no resources will be spared while combatting the deadly pandemic. He also announced that the administration has established a new partnership with private industries to expand testing capabilities.
The POTUS said that his administration is also trying to work with pharmacies and private entities to establish drive-thru testing sites. They are also teaming up with Google to establish a coronavirus testing website that could help both doctors and patients assess their risks.
Despite his attempts to appease the netizens, Trump continues to draw criticisms over how he has been handling the deadly coronavirus outbreak. His critics have also been blaming him for initially downplaying the seriousness of the disease before more and more cases were confirmed.
Journalist Aaron Rupar uploaded a video of the POTUS, and it became evident that even just pronouncing the word coronavirus has been difficult for him. Initially, the president was able to read the words from a piece of paper.
But when it was time to say coronavirus, the president breathed deeply and said corona before breathing deeply again and saying a virus. Trump’s difficulty in speaking in front of the crowds just led to even more criticisms for the president.
“@realDonaldTrump actually can’t help that he’s intellectually, psychologically, and morally unfit for any public office. But there are 52 people who could’ve done something about it five weeks ago. No one should forget their responsibility, not this fall, in 2022 and 2024 – or ever,” Twitter user @gtconway3d said.
