Ivanka Trump, who has been absent from the public limelight in recent weeks, has now reported back for work at the White House. President Donald Trump’s daughter and senior political advisor was recently seen at a small business event on Tuesday after self-quarantining herself.
During the small business event at the White House, President Donald Trump praised his daughter once more for her work on a job training program, according to the Daily Mail. “That's what she wants to do,” Trump said. “She wants to help people. From the beginning of my administration, Ivanka has used her experience as an entrepreneur to fight for the American worker. She has created many jobs. That's what she did when she first came in.”
Trump claimed once more that Ivanka created millions of jobs. “She just wanted people to jobs and job training,” he added. “Went to the biggest companies anywhere in the world that are located in our country. And they would take hundreds of thousands of people and train them. And think you got up to almost 15 million people. She started off with a goal of 500,000. She wanted to get 500,000 and she is now on almost 15 million people.”
Daily Mail noted that Ivanka Trump did not correct the President for crediting her with creating millions of employment opportunities. “Thank you, Mr. President, for convening this incredible group of entrepreneurs and small business owners who very much represent the soul and the spirit, the grit, and the tenacity of America's small business owners across the nation,” she said.
However, not everyone believed in Donald Trump’s claim. The data was reviewed by a Washington Post fact-checker who noted that companies only pledged to provide 6.5 million job training opportunities to Ivanka. Clearly, it’s not 15 million new jobs as the President claimed.
This was not the first time Trump claimed that Ivanka helped create 15 million jobs. “My daughter Ivanka Trump who just wants to have people working,” Donald Trump said in early April. “I gave her lots of options. What do you like? She created over 15 million jobs working with some of you, but working with the biggest companies in the world.”
Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump’s presence seemed to have the effect of calming down White House briefings, as noted by MyNorthWest.com. During Tuesday’s briefing where Ivanka was present, Donald Trump appeared to be gentler to reporters.
Donald Trump did not appear to be angry with an NBC reporter. “I watched your report on NBC today, it was an incorrect report,” he commented.
He even thanked a reporter from Yahoo. “And thank you for the apology, I appreciate it, that was very nice, Yahoo,” he said.
