“Dragon Ball” contents might be continuously coming out, especially in gaming titles. But what fans are most curious about is whether the anime series “Dragon Ball Super” will return with new episodes in 2019.
“Dragon Ball Super” originally first aired in 2015 starting with the “God of Destruction: Beerus” storyline. The latest episodes were part of the “Universe Survival” saga that concluded over a year ago in March 2018.
While new episodes of “Dragon Ball Super” hang in the balance, Toei released the “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” movie in late 2018 as the 20th anniversary offering to fans and to serve as a continuation of the anime’s storyline. Since then, Toei Animation has been mum about the future of the anime series.
Producers of the said movie attended the 2019 International Beijing Film Festival last month where they were naturally asked about any updates on “Dragon Ball Super.” Unfortunately, fans got nothing but another vague response. “Nothing is fixed now. Toei hasn’t [come] up with anything yet, [not even] about arrangements and when it will start,” Norihiro Hayashida said (via Goveta XV). “We are looking forward to it as eagerly as everyone else. There is nothing that we can answer about it right now.”
Just based on what Hayashida said, it may even be difficult to say that new episodes of “Dragon Ball Super” is in the early stages of production. The only good thing fans can take away from his statement is that Toei Animation has not canceled the anime series yet.
EXCLUSIVE. You heard it here first. The #DragonBallSuper ANIME RETURNS to television July 2019? You won't have to wait much longer. https://t.co/E2OZ58ploA

Hayashida’s statement is also completely different from what the rumors said earlier this year. There was even a report that “Dragon Ball Super” will come back with new episodes in July. But it was followed by Toei’s clarification in March that it is not working on the anime series at the time. Hayashida seemed to confirm that the situation has not changed much in the following month.
