“Elden Ring” leaks have appeared in the wild over the last few days just as the wait for the game is almost over. However, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco may have the perfect thing to counter the spoilers -- a new overview trailer.
The latest trailer, which runs for more than six minutes, could be one of the last teasers the developer will release before “Elden Ring” launches on Friday, Feb. 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. But it gives fans more glimpse of the Lands Between and it should give them more idea of how the maps are going to be in the upcoming RPG.
One of the highlights of the “Elden Ring” overview trailer is the Legacy Dungeons that are described as “complex, intricately built dungeon maps.” FromSoftware gave an earlier look into the dungeons last year to some members of the press, which led to comparisons with the Chalice Dungeons in “Bloodborne.”
Fans who were able to join the Closed Network Test last November have also seen one of the Legacy Dungeons in “Elden Ring” called Stormveil Castle in the Stormhill region. During the test, the location featured different kinds of enemies, including mini-bosses, and traps that players should all pass through to complete the dungeon. Just like in most games, harder challenges mean bigger rewards and that will be the case for the Legacy Dungeons.
The “Elden Ring” overview trailer offers more insight into the landscape and buildings in the Lands Between, and reiterates that the entire map is designed with a “high-level of freedom for explorers.” That lines up with one of the earliest details FromSoftware confirmed about the game. The game’s map is divided into six main areas each ruled by a demi-god that holds a shard of the titular Elden Ring. While the game will offer a suggested chronology in completing the map, players will have the freedom to choose which region they want to conquer first.
That does not mean, though, that everything is unlocked as soon as players start “Elden Ring.” But Hidetaka Miyazaki previously said there are different ways to approach the map. “And there's a lot of freedom as to which order you tackle different areas as well,” Miyazaki told IGN.
