There’s no doubt that Final Fantasy XV is not one of the most beloved installments to the legendary franchise. However, there are a few notable features in the game that fans liked. With the new downloadable content called Episode Prompto finally out, players are treated to fresh gameplay and more depth to the group’s designated joker. So far, it’s getting a positive reception.
While it’s still too early to count the new DLC as a win for Square Enix, Kotaku is already praising Episode Prompto as being a much better expansion than the previous one. The setting involves the bright and lighthearted blond member right after he was thrown off a train near the end of the main game. From there, players are shown how Prompto fared as well as a few secrets he was keeping inside.
Generally speaking, the new DLC features a whole lot of shooting in third-person. It’s basically like FFVII’s Dirge of Cerberus, but with way better controls and a lot more polish. Aside from the nice combat changes, there are also abilities like being able to throw grenades, take cover, and even make use of the guns that the enemies are using.
So great is the combat in the episode that The Verge compares it to a thrilling action movie, complete with revelations regarding the character’s past. The main goal of the DLC is to escape the clutches of the Empire, which is creating some rather unsavory soldiers, and meet-up with the rest of the boy band heroes.
Along the way, Prompto will be uncovering some secrets, blowing up a lot of enemies, and a few satisfying details regarding the blond comedic relief’s life. The DLC is also relatively short, at least, when compared to the main game. Even so, it provides enough content and gratifying combat to slake even the most bloodthirsty of gamers.
