While most of the recent news about Bethesda Game Studios has been about the upcoming “Starfield,” the studio is also developing the next main series installment to “The Elder Scrolls.” Luckily for fans of the “Fallout” franchise, the developer confirmed that it has not forgotten about the post-apocalyptic RPG series.
Bethesda Game Studios is home to many widely popular single-player games. In recent years, though, it meant that fans had to wait longer for the new releases for their favorite IPs like “Fallout” and “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
In the latest episode of IGN Unfiltered, where Bethesda discussed the 10th anniversary of “Skyrim,” Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard revealed that they already have a one-page for “Fallout 5.” In the corporate world, a one-pager refers to a single-page document containing the most crucial details or a summary of a product or service being pitched. That means the continuation of the “Fallout” series is not lost in the myriad of projects Bethesda is handling.
While having a one-pager does not mean “Fallout 5” is in development, this suggests that Bethesda eyes on making a proper sequel for “Fallout 4.” However, fans of the franchise should expect to wait for several years before seeing the “Fallout 5” pitch become an actual page.
Bethesda has had a very clear timeline of projects since “Starfield” was announced in 2018. The game, which is still in development, is the studio’s top priority at this point and it will not be released until Nov. 11, 2022. After that, the developer will focus on making the already-announced “The Elder Scrolls 6.” And if the “Fallout 5” one-pager turns into actual game development, fans should not expect Bethesda to focus on it anytime before the release of the next “The Elder Scrolls.”
“I'd like to find a way to accelerate what we do, but I can't really say today or commit to anything, what's going to happen when,” Howard said. He then added that their list of priorities remain with “Starfield” first, and then “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
Bethesda has yet to announce a release window for “The Elder Scrolls 6,” which is not surprising. Howard revealed last June that they were still in the design phase for the game, which heavily implies the game is still years away from its launch.
