Ubisoft released the fifth main title installment of the “Far Cry” video game series just last March. But it appears that the company has already started making plans for “Far Cry 6.” It is speculated to feature a sci-fi gameplay, with possible locations that include India, Russia, and North Korea, among others.
The “Far Cry” series is one of the video game franchises that excite fans with the developers’ unique take on fictional settings and locations apart from upgrades to its gameplay. As OtakuArt noted, the series has already brought fans to a wide array of settings. For one, “Far Cry Primal” covered the Upper Paleolithic and early Mesolithic ages. With that, the report speculates that “Far Cry 6” could be the title that will mainly feature a sci-fi theme.
As proven by other video game and media franchises, the sci-fi theme does not always have to be set in the future. Moreover, the choices for “Far Cry 6” locations can also be very vast if Ubisoft does choose sci-fi as the main premise of the yet-to-be-announced title.
The only challenge for developers and writers would be making this nature of setting tie in smoothly with the other main series installments. But it is also worth mentioning that Ubisoft has already incorporated a sci-fi gameplay in the series such as the “Far Cry 5” DLC “Lost on Mars.”
As mentioned, “Far Cry 5” was released just last March. This means that specific details about the “Far Cry 6” setting and locations are naturally off the table yet. However, the possible locations for “Far Cry 6” have been leaked earlier this year by a very reliable source — Ubisoft.
In May, some fans claimed that they received an email asking them to participate in a survey supposedly related to “Far Cry 6.” For one, Reddit user karmaecrivain shared on the platform a screenshot of the said survey.
The survey asks recipients of the email, “Among this list of settings, which ones would you like to see a new ‘Far Cry’ take place in?” Noticeably, there was no direct mention of “Far Cry 6.” Some may also argue that the survey could be intended for a DLC or another spinoff. However, the survey referred to “a new ‘Far Cry,’” which led many to assume that its questionnaire was part of the early preps for “Far Cry 6.”
The supposed “Far Cry 6” survey allows people to provide up to three answers. Meanwhile, the options include Northern Canadian territories, another planet, a post-apocalyptic world, India, Cuba, the steppes of Alaska, Russia/Siberia, the jungles of South America, the Jungles of Vietnam, an African Country, the Sahara region, Australia, North Korea, and New Zealand.
