Ubisoft has several major titles to launch this year and “Far Cry 6” is one of them. It has been a while since fans of the series received updates about its release and gameplay, but the drought might end very soon.
New ‘Far Cry 6’ updates might arrive this week
It is almost a year since Ubisoft officially presented “Far Cry 6” and gave fans a general idea of the upcoming game’s main premise. A gameplay trailer has yet to be revealed, but with the first-person shooter expected to launch in the coming months, Ubisoft is likely to release a new video soon.
The report comes from YouTube channel NEXTGEN claims that at least one new trailer “or maybe trailers” for “Far Cry 6” are slated to premiere on Friday, May 28, once the embargo is lifted at 10:15 a.m. PDT / 7:15 p.m. CEST. The information, which the channel deemed “very reliable,” reportedly came from industry sources.

May 28 is also rumored to start Ubisoft’s media campaign to promote “Far Cry 6.” NEXTGEN added that, aside from trailers, the developer is also expected to release interviews that would provide new details about the upcoming game. New updates are expected to be released through the Ubisoft Forward on June 12, which is the company’s dedicated media event that coincides with E3 2021.
Fans may want to take this with a grain of salt, but starting a string of new promotions later this week lines up with the anticipated launch of “Far Cry 6.” In a “What’s Next” video released last February, Ubisoft included snippets of the game confirming that it is still slated to launch sometime in 2021.
Ubisoft reiterated the “Far Cry 6” release window earlier this month in its 2020-21 earnings report. Aside from “Far Cry 6,” the company confirmed that “Rainbow Six Quarantine,” “Riders Republic,” “The Division Heartland,” and “Roller Champions” are all slated to launch within its 2021-22 fiscal year, which runs through the end of March 2022.
‘Far Cry 6’ gameplay: What to expect
At the center of the “Far Cry 6” plot is a tyrannical ruler named Antón “El President” Castillo portrayed by “Breaking Bad” actor Giancarlo Esposito. Castillo’s son Diego, played by Anthony Gonzalez, is also a recurring character in the available trailers but whether Diego becomes a successor of his father’s regime or eventually side with the people seeking to oust him is still a mystery.
Based on the previous teasers, it appears that the players’ main goal is to remove Castillo from power. To help players complete their mission, “Far Cry 6” is expected to introduce a revamped Fangs for Hire system called Amigos. The gameplay feature will let players acquire a dog companion named Chorizo, who will fight alongside them.
