When a reboot of “American Idol” was recently announced, it was odd for the show to not comment about the reboot’s host or its judges lineup.
But fans are buzzing that original judge Paula Abdul might schedule a return to the show’s revival, thanks to her latest admission. Hollywood Life reports that Abdul loves her time on the show that it is a possibility she will consider a return if offered. In an interview, she said, “”American Idol” was and still is one of the most life changing experiences for me. I’m so beyond proud to have been there since the inception of it. I’m excited for “Idol.” I’m forever a fan. I’m just finding out the same way as everyone else and it’s very exciting.”
As for the rest of the previous judges, Harry Connick Jr also played the coy card. The balladeer, who has since been busy with his new, titular weekday talk show, said, "I don't know, I haven't been asked and I haven't thought about it. I've been so busy with my show... We'll see what happens in the future."
Simon Cowell, who first gained TV viewers’ consciousness for his brutally honest commentary as an original judge, revealed that ABC, the new network the show will premiere on, has in fact reached out to him. He admitted, "I was asked to do it, and the answer is no," Cowell admitted. "I have no interest. My memories are when we first started. It was a different time with Randy [Jackson], Ryan [Seacrest], and Paula [Abdul]. You can't recreate that."
He also added, "Last time I watched, it was not the same show, just the same name. I left for a reason and I never regretted that."
