The launch of the mobile version of Epic Games’ Fortnite Battle Royale where gamers can participate in the 100-player game while on the go has been highly anticipated. The mobile version of the hugely popular title is now available on iOS devices as a test, with an Android version set to follow. Unfortunately, most gamers might need to wait a little longer since Epic is making the test invitation-only.
Since this is something of a pilot program, as Forbes points out, gamers can think of this development as a closed beta test. The developers will need to work out quite a few kinks in the game, after all, and they don’t want to release a buggy mobile port that will only hurt the reputation of the Battle Royale title.
So far, one of the biggest contributors to the success of the game is the ability of the developers to keep churning out good content and positive changes. This generates a lot of interest among gamers and has earned them substantial goodwill. It wouldn’t do for Epic to squander that with a rushed mobile version of Fortnite.
Among the most important aspects that the developers are likely looking at in this test are stability problems and the usual bugs that early versions of any game experience. As the test goes on, however, more and more players will get an invitation. Eventually, Fortnite Battle Royale on mobile will become available to everyone.
As it stands, it seems the size of the whole game is about 2GB, Polygon reports. That is a lot of space being taken up by one app. For those who don’t mind that part and want to be able to play it as soon as possible, registering at the website should help accelerate the process and make them more likely to be invited.
