Fortnite remains one of the most popular Battle Royale games today, boasting around 200 million gamers who continuously and religiously play the title. However, similar to all things, the popularity of Fortnite isn’t immune to change.
While Epic Games has done a stellar job at creating enticing features that keep the title fresh, it has also stumbled on mistakes that have been painfully obvious. One of the things that the Fortnite community is vexed about is the lack of custom games. And with the upcoming tournament slated several months from now, professional players are asking the developers to add this much-needed feature, Screen Rant reported.
So far, however, Epic Games hasn’t revealed anything regarding this development, which is surprising since they’ve already had this feature before, limited though it may have been. The good news is that the studio has a good track record at adding things quickly as has been observed with the latest ping system that “Fortnite” lifted from “Apex Legends.”
Epic Games is also slated to roll out a new feature in the form of buried treasure maps. However, this too has no release date yet. With regards to the competition, “Apex Legends” is quickly catching up to “Fortnite” in terms of popularity and player base. EA and Respawn recently released a thank you video after they revealed that their recently released Battle Royale game has attracted 50 million players, Tech Radar reported.
Although this is only a quarter of the population that “Fortnite” have, Epic Games should still be worried. It can be recalled that “Fortnite” reach the 50 million mark after four months of being released. Apex Legends, on the other hand, only did it in one. Of course, both games have their own unique appeals but the freshness offered by the latter is undeniably more enticing at the moment.
This is especially true given that characters in “Apex Legends” have skills that can be used in tandem with other gamers. Indeed, the plethora of hilarious videos and creative kills that have exploded on the web highlights this very fact. But “Fortnite” will not go down without a fight and it will be interesting to see what Epic Games have up their sleeves that would keep their title on the number one spot.
