“Forza Horizon 4” is coming later this year with a Mixer feature that will also reward players who will be live-streaming their plays.
According to reports, the upcoming open-world car racing simulation is going to have an in-game option that lets players easily broadcast their games through Microsoft’s Mixer platform. This feature is present in currently available “Forza Horizon” games, but this is going to be the first time developers are going to give out rewards for using it.
Ars Technica, the first to report on the feature, said developers from Playground Games indicated that using the Mixer streaming options will give players some sort of advantage. According to the report, Playground Games art director Benjamin Penrose said players can “progress in the game” through various gameplay activities such as “streaming [their] gameplay on Mixer."
The Xbox One system has been updated to feature a one-tap button to live-stream a gameplay on Mixer. But it can also be tweaked to let players broadcast their games on Twitch if that is the platform they prefer.
With the implied rewards for using Mixer streaming on “Forza Horizon 4,” it seems like Microsoft is finding ways to make Mixer more popular among gamers, starting with major titles that they are publishing such as the upcoming racing game.
Meanwhile, developers are yet to detail how the game will rewards players who use Mixer streaming on “Forza Horizon 4.” It is also unclear whether the same points system will be applied when gamers stream “Forza Horizon 4” gameplay via Twitch.
“Forza Horizon 4” was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2018 earlier this month, confirming that the open-world game will be set in the United Kingdom. The game features a dynamic weather system which changes the environment season every week.
“Forza Horizon 4” will be released on Oct. 2 on the PC, Xbox One and will be streaming on Xbox Game Pass on the same day.
