For the most part, “Frozen” can be considered a phenomenon by any measure. The Disney animated film was such a huge success and such a cultural influence that it has become iconic to the next generation of moviegoers. This is why fans are so excited about “Frozen 2,” which is taking quite long to produce due to the slow progress of writing. Before the release of the movie, though, a comic book adaptation of the property might satisfy fans who want more “Frozen.”
It would seem that the reason why “Frozen 2” took so long to be announced was that the writers behind the movie were still trying to figure out its story, Otaku Art reports. This is worth noting because it means that Disney wants the sequel to be a hit and the narrative is going to play a big role in that. Aside from the song “Let It Go,” the first movie’s story is what moved many viewers about it.
It’s also worth pointing out that stories often change in movies like this, especially since “Frozen 2” is working off of an established property. Writers could just as quickly change up the primary focus of the plot, or the whole thing could get scrapped entirely. If so, the writers will then have to start from scratch.
One of the things that are likely to be featured, however, is Elsa’s enjoyment of her new situation as a free person. Viewers of the first movie will likely remember that she was primarily a prisoner of her powers for most of her life. In “Frozen 2,” she is finally free, and the writers are likely to do something good with that plot point.
Speaking of writers doing something about this property, “Frozen 2” isn’t the only thing coming out of this universe. It would seem that Dark Horse Comics is publishing comic books based on “Frozen” called “Disney Frozen: Breaking Boundaries.” It’s written by Joe Caramagna while Kawaii Creative Studio is responsible for the art, The Hollywood Reporter notes. The first issue is available now.
