Fans will soon be seeing supervillain Ra’s Al Ghul on Fox’s “Gotham,” and it will be played by no other than a “Game of Thrones” actor.
Alexander Siddig, who played doomed Dornish prince Doran in the HBO fantasy drama series, will be taking on the role of the semi-immortal leader of the League of Assassins and puppet-master behind Gotham City’s crime underbelly, Express UK reported. Although “Arrow” already has Matt Nable to play the supervillain, “Arrow” and “Gotham” do not exist in the same superhero universe.
The Los Angeles Times said Siddig’s Ra’s Al Ghul will be introduced to pre-Batman Bruce (David Mazouz) as the latter conducts an investigation in attempts to take down the Court of Owls. The mysterious life-giving pools are a prominent part of Ra’s Al Ghul’s history, but it remains to be seen whether his infamous Lazarus Pits will be shown in the series.
Siddig’s entry in the FOX superhero drama could mean bigger things for “Gotham” fans. As the Court of Owls have been “very present” in the back half of the show’s season, Mazouz said fans should anticipate his character’s development in the series, and Ra’s Al Ghul’s presence could make things more worrisome for our hero.
"They do something to him ... that will change him forever, emotionally. There are some very, very emotional things that happen to Bruce," Mazouz hints.
“Gotham” is set to return on FOX with new episodes starting April 24. The show’s return will also feature recurring villains Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Edward Nygma/The Riddler ( Cory Michael Smith ), and Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Camren Bicondova ).
