PlayStation Plus offers free games on a regular basis and July is no different. For the upcoming month, subscribers to Sony’s console service will be able to get Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series and the hit horror game featuring actual actors Until Dawn for free. These two titles are for the main PlayStation 4 console. There are also other offerings for the PS3 and the Vita.
For those who have never played either of these games before, Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series is basically another masterpiece by the experts of putting players through the ringer, Telltale Games, Polygon reports. As with the studio’s previous titles, the game features narrative-heavy stories involving different Houses in the universe of Game of Thrones.
Although not the most interactive video game, the title capitalizes on the heavy atmosphere of dread and hopelessness that has become synonymous with GoT. Every choice has a consequence and blunders could lead to numerous deaths.
Until Dawn by Supermassive Games follows a similar formula, though, with significantly more input from the players. It basically involves a group of teenagers in the woods trying to survive the onslaught of practically every kind of supernatural monster imaginable. There are ghosts, murderers, and so much more.
The game was received with high praise and did reasonably well as far as sales are concerned. The fact that it’s free to get now is certainly a huge win for PS4 owners.
As for the PS3 and PS Vita offers, however, the list becomes a little stale. Owners of the former will get Tokyo Jungle and Darkstalkers Resurrection, while owners of the latter will get Element 41 and Don’t Die, Mr. Robot.
This time around, it would seem that Sony has the better lineup, Forbes reports. Microsoft is also offering free games on the Xbox One for July, but most publications agree that the list is underwhelming.
