“Game of Thrones” Season 8 will be the final installment for the epic fantasy series and it’s expected to smash records when it finally airs sometime around 2019. The previous installment’s finale showed that the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) managed to bring down the Wall that had protected the people of Westeros for thousands of years from the threat beyond the border.
The main villain of the show managed to break the massive edifice by using the unnatural flame of the dragon he resurrected, a dragon that previously belonged to the brood of Daenerys (Emilia Clarke). Some fans are speculating that the Night King actually has the power to peer into the future given how prepared he was when Daenerys came to the rescue of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and co. “Game of Thrones” Season 8 will once and for all confirm how powerful this antagonist truly is, as well as his true motive as to why he’s doing the things he does.
The Night King has been one of the most interesting characters of the show as he is shrouded in mystery and darkness. The previous installment showed that the antagonist was once a human but was turned into the creature he is now by the Children of the Forest. These ancient people achieved this by pushing an obsidian dagger into the heart of the then-human Night King. While Leaf (Octavia Alexandru, Kae Alexander) and the rest of her group perished in the hands of this icy villain, it would be interesting to see if a few of her kind will show up in “Game of Thrones” Season 8.
After all, they were the ones who created the threat and they may be the only ones capable of reversing it. But fans are heavily leaning towards Jon Snow being the character who will ultimately destroy the Night King as he’s considered to be Azor Ahai, a prophesized hero who will drive the darkness away. “Game of Thrones” Season 8 may provide more information regarding this prophecy since it’s an integral piece of how the whole conflict will conclude.
Right now, nothing is certain about how the show will end, given that the showrunners are keeping everything under wraps. There’s also the fact that the fantasy saga has long since surpassed its source material plotline-wise, leaving all fans – book readers and show watchers alike – guessing the fates of the beloved protagonists. As for the release date of “Game of Thrones” Season 8, HBO has yet to announce anything but it’s expected that it will drop in the spring of 2019.
