As “Game of Thrones” Season 8 is still a long way off to airing its final season, fans are left having their ears on the ground trying to hear rumblings that would shed light on what’s going to come next. There are a lot of possibilities for how the show will end and it’s likely it’s going to be a whole lot different from the books.
There have been many secondary characters taken out from the show because of how crowded the cast already is. One such character is the zombie-like version of Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley), wife of Ned Stark (Sean Bean) and mother to the Stark children save for Jon Snow. Given that the showrunners haven’t already incorporated this character into the series, it’s safe to say that she won’t be making an appearance in “Game of Thrones” Season 8.
In the books, however, she’s the one who replaced Beric Dondarrion after the knight passed his gift of resurrection to Catelyn. When she was brought back from the dead, Catelyn Stark took the name of Lady Stoneheart and started killing those responsible for the Red Wedding. But show watchers will not have the chance of seeing her on-screen no matter how hard people speculate that she will as “Game of Thrones” Season 8 will be the finale for the epic fantasy saga.
And speaking of speculations, Arya Stark actress Masie Williams gave a hint about how Cersei Lannister’s (Lena Heady) arc is going to end, Express reported. When asked about the possibility of Cersei siding with the Night King, Masie said she certainly saw fan-made photos of the two, adding, “What a power couple.” Of course, this isn’t any confirmation that this is the case and fans will have to wait for “Game of Thrones” Season 8 to drop before truly knowing what’s going to happen.
This is the first year that the fantasy saga has been absent since it first aired in 2011. HBO head Casey Bloys said that the reasons for the delay are because of “Game of Thrones” Season 8’s size, quality, and the perfectionist attitude of showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss. The air date for the finale has not yet been given but speculations revolve around the first quarter of 2019.
