The new teaser for “Game of Thrones” Season 8 was just dropped and it is chockful of symbolism that has lit a fire under fans to start churning out theories. Among the most prominent is the possibility of Cersei coming out on top in the war to come despite the odds. The HBO show absolutely loves pulling the rug out from under viewers, but this would certainly take the cake.
As seen in the teaser clip below, it’s clear that the folks over at HBO really want fans to speculate over the meanings behind the symbolism for “Game of Thrones” Season 8. The clip basically features a beautiful diorama of a map of Westeros where winter is creeping southward from the north and fire is burning upward from the south.
The clip also shows the dire wolf and the dragon getting swallowed up by the cold while the lion is seen blazing with fire. By the end of the short video, the two forces meet in the middle and chaos ensues. The promo is basically a literal presentation of a Song of Ice & Fire, which the show is based on. The symbolism could also mean that Cersei will be the eventual victor of “Game of Thrones” Season 8.
Though it might seem unthinkable, the symbolism of the clip could indicate that the Night King destroys the forces gathered in the north. Once this is done, Cersei then meets the White Walkers with her own army where they clash in the middle. Of course, this could just as easily prove to be wrong and the “Game of Thrones” Season 8 teaser could just be a cool way of hyping the show’s final season.
In any case, “Game of Thrones” Season 8 will be hitting the small screen in April 2019. Suffice it to say, this season is going to be bloody.
