“Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 5 will be the penultimate release for the highly-acclaimed fantasy drama and will be featuring yet another brutal carnage. This time, the forces of Dany (Emilia Clarke) and Jon (Kit Harrington) will be going against the bolstered host of Cersei (Lena Heady). Gamespot reported.
The previous release already hinted that the protagonists’ forces had been greatly reduced after their army went against the undead horde. There’s still some Unsullied and Dothraki left, but fewer and considerably wearier compared to Cersei’s fresh troops. There’s no doubt that “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 5 will be killing Cersei somewhere during the fight.
The question is: who will be delivering the killing blow? The most obvious choice is Tyrion since he is Cersei’s little brother. In the books, the Valonqar prophecy suggests that Cersei will be killed by a younger sibling as the word is High Valyrian for “little brother.” However, “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 5 could have someone else kill Cersei since the prophecy doesn’t necessarily dictate that Cersei will be killed by her own blood.
It could be that someone’s little brother might be wrapping their throat around the Lannister’s neck. Which might mean The Hound (Rory McCann) could do the deed seeing that he’s one of the most prominent little brothers in the show. Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is also another candidate in this regard since it’s been shown he’s heading to King’s Landing. Whatever the case, “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 5 will be dealing with Cersei one way or another.
As for the overall opinion of fans regarding this installment, some are sad that the series is coming to an end. Others are ecstatic that Cersei will finally be getting what she deserves, while there are those that are simply underwhelmed at how the writers have handled the story so far. For instance, the upcoming battle can totally be avoided if Jon simply tasked Arya (Massie Williams) to kill Cersei. As a face-changing assassin, the young Stark can simply slip in the Red Keep wearing a Lannister guard’s face, enter Cersei’s room, and knife her. This is especially true since the previous release saw that Cersei was letting civilians into the Red Keep to act as a human shield. But “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 5 will be proceeding with the battle even though this route is the more logical choice.
Hopefully, the books provide a more satisfying conclusion to this saga as the death of the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) has been handled rather poorly. As for the release date of “Game of Thrones” Season 8 Episode 5, it’s slated to air on May 12.
