The Korean fried chicken chain Genesis BBQ fortifies its Latin American footprint, opening a second branch in Panama's bustling Alborrk Mall. This strategic location—surrounded by an airport, subway, and bus terminal—heralds a robust customer base and a promising start to its growth in the region.
As per Korea Joongang Daily, this Genesis BBQ restaurant is in a prime location; thus, it is expected to benefit from this trait. The area is known to be one of the busiest with high foot traffic since it is directly connected to an airport, subway station, and bus terminal. The population is high, meaning more customers for the fried chicken chain.
It was reported that on the opening day of Genesis BBQ on Wednesday, Aug. 3, the Albrook branch reached the $4,000 sales mark. This store took second place as the highest daily earners, with the San Francisco store, which only opened on May 17, taking the top spot by raking in an average of $5,000 in sales daily.
Genesis BBQ has over 700 stores in 57 countries, including Canada, the United States, Malaysia, Japan, and Germany. Panama is the first to have a Korean fried chicken restaurant in Central and South America. The company's founder and chairman, Yoon Hong Geun, said they plan to launch another store in Costa Rica to boost Genesis BBQ's presence in Central America.
"With this expansion, we aim to lay the foundation to promote Korean chicken globally throughout the Americas," The Korea Herald quoted Chairman Yoon. "We seek to leap forward as a global brand that can cater to diverse palates of people all over the world."
Another official of Genesis BBQ added, "As we have entered a large shopping mall with more than 2.7 million visitors annually, we will make the most of our advantageous location to expand our presence in Panama."
