After a full year of hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Google I/O is back and it is happening this week. However, Google still opted for a conference without in-person attendance, which means everyone can watch the key events live simultaneously.
Where to stream live Google I/O keynote address
Aside from going fully virtual this year, this is also the first time the registration for the Google I/O was made available for free. But certain events in the three-day affair would still need some credentials, especially those primarily designed for developers.
Luckily, the events that ordinary tech fans will be easily accessible through live streams on YouTube. The Google I/O 2021 keynote address will kick off the conference on Tuesday, 10 a.m. PDT / 6 p.m. BST / 10:30 p.m. IST. Google fans who are in different time zones, especially across Europe and Asia, where the event happens at very late hours can catch the replay on May 19 at 9 a.m. BST / 1:30 p.m. IST.
Google has already put up a placeholder for the Google I/O keynote via YouTube where the event will be streamed live with American Sign Language. Tech fans who want to be up-to-date on the upcoming announcements can now follow the event by clicking the “Set reminder” button on the lower left side of the video.
After the Google I/O 2021 keynote, the next event to look forward to is also happening on the first day where the tech giant reveals “What’s new in Android” at 1:30 p.m. PDT. It will be followed by a presentation focused on the Google Play platform at 2 p.m. PDT.
3 biggest Google I/O 2021 announcements to expect
As with many major tech events, though, the biggest announcements are often made during the keynote address. It is already a given that the Android 12 will be one of the highlights of the Google I/O 2021. But it remains to be seen whether Google will also announce the start of its beta program during the conference this week.
In late April, Google CEO Sundar Pichai was quoted saying there will be “significant products” to be announced at the Google I/O 2021. While he did not provide further clues on what those are, most fans can think of two devices that could be launched on Tuesday -- Pixel 5a and Pixel Buds A.
The case of Pixel Buds A is more interesting. While the company has yet to officially confirm its existence, the new wireless earbuds have already appeared in a couple of leaks from none other than Google. The Pixel 5a, on the other hand, was already confirmed to launch in the coming months after Google was forced to respond to rumors that its next mid-range phone had been canceled.
