Tech companies are typically silent about their rumored upcoming products. However, Google might have virtually confirmed when the Pixel 3 is going to be unveiled.
The latest information came from the YouTube channel This Is Tech Today, which found an active listing for the Google Pixel 3 brand deals on FameBit. The said platform serves as a hub for companies to post advertisement opportunities for content creators.
A screenshot of Google’s FameBit listing — specifically for the Google Pixel 3 — is shown in a video posted by This Is Tech Today on Aug. 5. In the “About the Brand” section, Google clearly indicated that the upcoming smartphone is “launching Oct. 4th, 2018.”
If this schedule seems familiar, it is because Google used the same date for launching the first and second series of Pixel smartphones in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Google is apparently making Oct. 4 an annual affair for their latest hardware products headlined by the Pixel 3 in 2018.
In the said FameBit listing, Google is looking for Canadian content creators “who are not currently Google Pixel users but are willing to switch to the Pixel 3.” From there, the company wants the content creators to deliver at least one video that will chronicle their experience in using the Google Pixel 3. The brand deal can help someone earn up to $10,000 (it is not clear if it is USD or CAD), according to the post.
Just recently, known leaker Ice Universe shared on Twitter a list of launch dates for “global flagship mobile phones,” and they include that for the Google Pixel 3. The document, however, listed “September or October” as the Google Pixel 3 announcement date.
Meanwhile, there have already been many leaked pieces of information and photos suggesting what the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will look like. The recurring image shows that the Pixel 3 XL is the only model to sport a display notch but the Pixel 3 is seen with thinner screen bezels. A recent benchmark test for the Pixel 3 XL was also leaked recently, reiterating popular speculations that the upcoming device will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC.
