“Halo Infinite” developer 343 Industries is slated to release quite a major update this week. The mid-season patch is confirmed to address the common complaint about the motion tracker in Big Team Battle (BTB) and introduce improvements in the game’s anti-cheat tool.
The mid-season update for “Halo Infinite” Season One is scheduled to go live on Thursday, Feb. 24. But the Halo senior community manager John Junyszek recently gave an overview of the changes and improvements to expect this week.
Part of the mid-season patch season is the highly requested increase in the range of the BTB motion tracker. It is one of the staple pieces of equipment in the “Halo” franchise. But shortly after the game’s release, several players have commented that its range is not enough to be a useful tool in BTB, especially considering the size of the maps in “Halo Infinite.”
The good news is the motion tracker in BTB is one of the features that will be updated this week. “Halo Infinite” developers will increase its range from 18m to 24m. This should make the BTB experience more enjoyable following the update earlier this month that fixed the game mode’s matchmaking issues.
“Halo Infinite” has only been out for less than four months but cheaters are already a major issue to legitimate players, which is not surprising for an online multiplayer game. Junyszek did not go into detail about how 343 Industries will improve the game’s anti-cheat system, but he said, “There will be multiple improvements to our anti-cheat systems in this update. We’ll have even more to share about anti-cheat in the near future.”
It is also unclear how the developers will address the persistent stability and performance issues on PC and Xbox consoles. But 343 Industries said this week’s update will have “a few improvements” in this department.
The next update is also confirmed to address issues in the “Halo Infinite” campaign. Some players have reported difficulties in unlocking Achievements, while others have experienced issues with using the Xbox’s Quick Resume feature. These problems should be fixed after the mid-season update. The game’s first season will end in May.
