Ashley Tisdale was recently reminiscing on some “High School Musical” fun through an edited video. Does this mean she is now considering to reprise her Sharpay Evans role in “High School Musical 4”?
The Disney Channel alum shared a video meme on Saturday. In it, Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie are performing their new song “ME!” but the audio playing is Tisdale’s duet with former co-star Lucas Grabeel’s Ryan Evans, Sharpay’s twin, singing “What I’ve Been Looking For” from the original trilogy. Their song rendition was part of the first movie from the original trilogy. However, it has been a while since Tisdale last spoke about “High School Musical 4,” and it was not specifically a piece of happy news for fans.
“High School Musical 4” was announced by Disney in 2016. Though other plot and production details have been scarce since then, some original cast members already shared what they think about reprising their roles.
Tisdale told E! News in 2018 that she has her reasons why she is not interested in coming back as an older Sharpay for “High School Musical 4.” "I honestly don't think I would, just based off of, I don't know if I could fill her shoes again," Tisdale said in a separate interview with E! News. "I've matured so much, I just don't know if I could give her justice — Sharpay — and be that character again. And I would hate to not have it be great."
Meanwhile, there is another possible reason to convince Tisdale to come back as Sharpay. TVLine previously reported that the main character in “High School Musical 4” is a new version of Troy (Zac Efron), but he is a cousin of the Evans twins.
That connection relation alone opens up several possibilities on how Tisdale could have a cameo appearance. And, who knows, maybe the right script will later convince the singer-actress to revisit East High School. Unfortunately, Disney has not yet updated fans whether filming for “High School Musical 4” has already started. This means even the release date window is still a mystery.
